Seychelles

The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 tranquil islands and islets, scattered like gems across the translucent blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Each is clad in spectacular tropical scenery, bordered by deserted powder white sand beaches, hidden coves and bays. The clear waters and fringed coral reefs provide some of the world's best snorkelling and diving and a perfect setting for a wedding or honeymoon.

Mahe
As well as being the cultural hub of the inner islands Mahe is also the gateway to the other island beaches. Although Mahe is the most developed and visited island its mountainous interior remains undisturbed. The islands 75 beaches are spectacular providing crystal clear water and safe swimming. Renowned for its nightlife, Mahe is the liveliest island after dark with several nightclubs and restaurants that serve up traditional Creole delights providing the evening entertainment.

Praslin
Praslin is the second largest island and a popular destination for honeymooners and beach lovers. Somewhat much quieter and less developed than Mahe, Praslin is home to striking crystal clear coral fringed beaches such as Anse Lazio, widely claimed to be the most beautiful beach in the world. Several large resort hotels have been developed on the island, but this has not interfered with the natural beauty or abundant flora and fauna, or its reputation as being as close to the Garden of Eden as one can get.

Island Hopping in the Seychelles Visiting more than one island is highly recommended as in the quieter corners of the archipelago traditional island life and pristine waters await:

Denis IslandThis coral island paradise offers complete seclusion and comfort with the main emphasis being on relaxation. Giant tortoise amble around the island while the reef protected southern shore is perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Intimate and sophisticated, this is a true tropical island getaway.

La Digue Island
White sandy beaches are strewn with pink granite rock formations, turquoise seas filled with coral and fish, and quaint island roads traversed by ox carts and bicycles.

Desroches Island
The island of Desroches can be found among the Amirantes islands. The Island is secreted beneath the shade of the coconut palms. It has 14 km of immaculate beaches, crystal blue waters and is protested by its own coral reef.

Bird Island
Perched on the edge of the Seychelles continental shelf is the most northerly island of the Seychelles Archipelago. Shades of turquoise and blue warm Indian Ocean which define the reef and continental shelf contrast vividly with the 5km of soft, white sand and tropical green island vegetation. The sight for the first time visitor is never to be forgotten and the return visitor eagerly awaits that memory.

Cerf Island
Mahe's closest neighbour, situated within St Anne Marine National Park, has several great beaches, excellent snorkelling and lush coconut groves.
